The Big 31

Daddy Park turned 31 years old yesterday...what an old dog!  Grandpa Jay came to stay with us for the weekend to celebrate, and we sure did love having him.

Since we've moved to Burley, Park has wanted to get a gun.  So...I finally gave in and let him buy one for his birthday.  He ended up getting a rifle...a 308.  Park and Jay went out to shoot it for the first time on Sunday after church while I made lunch, and they said it was fun to shoot and shot really well.

Last night Baby Park and I had a little party for Daddy Park.  I made his favorite homemade pizza and the famous Grandma Midgley white birthday cake with chocolate frosting.  I tried so hard to make sure everything was perfect...the way that Cathy would have done it if she were here.  Gosh I miss her.

It was fun to celebrate with just our little family.  During dinner I told Park to imagine 30 years from now...our quiet, small birthday party would then be a huge ordeal...just like it is now for Jay.

Happy birthday, babe!  I love you!

9 Month Check-Up...A Little Late

Because our lives have been insane these last few months, I wasn't able to get Baby Park in for his 9 month check-up until yesterday...1 month and 13 days late.  Oh well.

Park weighs 22.5 lbs (90%), is 30.5 in tall (60%), and a head circumference of 45.7 cm (50%).  The doc also said that he is advanced in his development...which is what every mother wants to hear about their child!

Park is a blast.  He is taking lots and lots of steps, and I'm sure he will be an official walker in the next couple of weeks.  He says "Momma" all the time now, and knows what it means.  I think those are the sweetest words I've ever heard.  I love him so so so much!

Handsome Boy

Cathy knitted this beautiful yellow sweater for Baby Park and gave it to me at one of my baby showers when I was pregnant.  I haven't really wanted him to wear it because I don't want it to get ruined, but I put him in it for church a few Sunday's ago and he looked so handsome.  We miss Grandma Cathy so much.

Baja 2012

Park had a great time in Mexico this year.  This was the fourth time he's gone down to Baja to ride dirt bikes with Dennis and the UTMA.  Amazingly...he and Dennis have never finished together.  Something crazy has always happened that prevented one of them from finishing with the other.  So this year, I was certain that one of two things was going to happen...one of them was going to die, or they were both going to finish together.  Luckily, no one died, and they both finished without any major craziness happening.  Park had a great time, as always.  He works so hard for us that I was happy to let him go and have some fun.

Park and Dennis wore Gopros on their helmets to record some of their riding.

Our Week In Pictures

It was a crazy week while Park was gone.  I was at my mom's, but she was gone most of the week so I was a single mom.  On top of that, I had a sick baby boy for most of the week.  Park wouldn't eat or sleep.  He just wanted me to hold and nurse him.  He also had a fever for a few days and was teething.  Yuck.  We found out that he ended up having Roseola...some kind of viral infection.  I am tired again just typing about it.

We did have some fun times, though.  He always got happy for swim lessons and loved spending time with family.

Park loves Gary.  It's pretty cute.  Most of the time, while we were there, if for some reason I couldn't hold him, he would only go to Gary.

We went to a wedding reception for one of my mom's friend's daughter.  They had a photo booth...and we had lots of fun with that!

Yummy Cafe Rio!

Yummy licorice!

Park wasn't too sure about playing in the cold snow with Mamie.

Swimming Lessons

This past week Daddy Park went to Mexico to ride dirt bikes again with my uncle Dennis and the UTMA.  While he did that, Baby Park and I spent the week in Utah at my mom's house.

A few months ago, my two sisters-in-law and I bought swim lessons for our little ones on Groupon, and luckily were able to schedule the lessons while I was in town.

Park had a blast...and loved every thing about the swim lessons.  Well, except when the swim teacher took him for one on one time.  (He developed some MAJOR separation/stranger anxiety after my aunt Libbi took him one day so I could have a day to myself.  For most of the time we were in Utah he would only go to me and Gary...and sometimes my mom)

Here are some pictures of our lessons.

Me and my swimmer boy.

Happy fishy.

I learned two things after looking at these pictures -  #1. I need a tan.  Bad.  #2. I need to find a top that better fits my fat nursing boobs.  Yikes.

Park's swimming buddies - Jane with her daddy, Spencer, and Max with his daddy, Jamie

Park goes all the way under the water...no crying and he holds his breath.

Here is the start of one of his melt down while the swim teacher took him for some one on one time.

Anniversary Weekend

Park and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary this weekend.  My mom and Gary had planned on coming to stay the weekend here in Burley so they could watch Baby Park while Daddy Park and I went out.  At the last minute Sarah decided to come up and bring her new friend Cody with her.

Park and I got a hotel on Saturday night in Twin Falls.  We went to the movies, went out to dinner, painted pottery, did some shopping, and slept in!  It was so nice to spend time with each other...to just focus on one another.  And even though I missed Baby Park so much, I knew he was in good hands and it made the night even better.

While we were away, my mom took Baby Park shopping for wigs at the DI.

None of the wigs worked out, but my mom did find a pretty cute church outfit for him.  What a handsome boy!

It was a great weekend.  I loved having family come for a few days.  It was really nice to be able to get away for the night with Park, too.  It's hard for me to remember what life was like when it was just the two of us...it's hard to remember life without our Baby Park.
