Howard was diagnosed with Churg-Strauss syndrome in 2003. Churg-Strauss syndrome is an auto-immune disorder marked by blood vessel inflammation. This inflammation can restrict blood flow to vital organs and tissues, sometimes permanently damaging them. Churg-Strauss syndrome can cause a variety of problems; Howard experienced severe pain and numbness in his hands and feet. Initially, Howard was unable to walk because of nerve damage. Slowly, he regained his mobility, but struggled with this disease for the remainder of his life.
We were all very saddened by this news, but we know that he is with our Heavenly Father now and is no longer in pain. We love him and can have peace in this difficult time because we know we will see him again.
