Happy 49th

While Baby Park and I were on our trip to Missouri, my mom turned 49.  I felt bad that I wasn't going to be in Utah to celebrate her birthday with her, but I hope I made up for it.

My mom has got to be one of the hardest people to buy gifts for.  She has everything...and if she doesn't have it and she wants it, she buys it for herself.  My sisters and I thought long and hard about what to do for her, and finally I came up with an awesome birthday surprise gift for her.

The day before I flew out to Missouri I called my mom's new boyfriend Gary and asked if he would help us surprise her.  Sarah, Mary, and I all pitched in to buy my mom two tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday, July 9th, her actual birthday, and asked Gary if he would take her.  He was more than happy and willing to do the job!  We all kept it a secret until Gary picked her up at 5 pm for the "surprise."  I told her to call me just before then and I would tell her what was going on so she could decide what she wanted to wear.  She was sooo surprised and excited.  Gary and my mom had a blast singing and dancing the night away together.

My mom is AMAZING.  I could go on and on about how wonderful she is.  She's smart, dedicated, fun, happy, hopeful, loving, charitable, beautiful, positive...I don't know what I'd do or where I'd be without her.

I love you, mom.  Happy birthday!

My mom and her twin...Happy birthday to you, too, Martha!
