An Update on Cathy

Today Cathy had an appointment with her oncologist here at IMC.  I just happened to see her and Jay upstairs in the cafeteria when I went up to get a refill on my lemonade.  They had just finished with the appointment.

The oncologist discussed with Cathy and Jay the results of Cathy's gallbladder biopsy and set a date to start chemotherapy.  Yes, she for sure has gallbladder cancer.  The oncologists have set her up to start chemo on Monday.  After about 9 weeks they will do more tests to see if her tumors have shrunk at all.

Then, Jay told me that the oncologist told Cathy that she has at least one year, but if she responds to the chemo, she could live four to five.

My heart instantly broke.  I could feel it shattering in my chest.  I told Cathy that I didn't know what to say or what to do and just gave her a hug...and we both cried.

This is out of our hands  There is nothing any of us can say or do to fix her.  All we can do is keep praying for a miracle.  Cathy believes in miracles...and seeing many miracles in my life and in the lives of people I love, I believe in miracles, too.

I called Park to tell him this news.  He is unbelievably hopeful and positive.  Thank goodness I have him in my life.

So...for the few of you that will read this, keep praying with me.  I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers, knows our hearts, and is mindful of all of us.  He wants to help us feel the peace we need in times like this.
