Since moving to Idaho at the end of November, Park and I have spent our weekdays in Burley and our weekends back in Salt Lake. We wanted to spend every moment possible with Cathy, knowing that she had limited time left on this earth. On November 3rd, doctors told her she had 3 days to 3 weeks left to live. Her liver was failing due to her cancer, and based on liver function tests, that was the doctor's best guess.
Today, Cathy passed away...just over 8 weeks after given that final diagnosis.
She fought long and hard, but now she is at peace...home with her Heavenly Father, parents, and loved ones who passed before her.
What a wonderful woman Cathy was. Words cannot describe the love and admiration I have for her. When I married Park almost 4 years ago, I knew I had a lot of work to do if I was going to be half the wife and mother she was. She was an amazing cook and the craftiest woman I have ever met, and was always my biggest cheerleader in all of my cooking and crafting endeavors. She made every holiday and birthday so special. She was always serving others...always putting others before herself. She loved her family more than anything. She is the glue that holds us all together. She wanted nothing more than for us all of us to stay close to one another.
Nothing will be the same without her. I am so sad that our children will never know her...how amazing she is. I do, however, know that she will be in heaven getting the rest of our babies ready to come into this world and into our family.
This is such a difficult time. We know that she is happy, in a better place, and that we will see her again, but none of that makes our hearts ache any less right now.
I am so blessed to have had her in my life.
